Bespoke sumps for plant based food manufacturer
Cleggs food projects worked closely with the client to progress the design and distribution facilities within the ever expanding development. The drainage system was designed to support the current flow of waste within the factory as well as future proofing the increase in demand.
Aspen manufactured a range of bespoke sumps to connect to the surrounding pipework in the manhole chamber. The sump opening provided easy access to the chamber and surrounding pipework for cleaning and waste blockage removal. Modern design processes were used to assess pipe forms used for waste distribution into the maze of underground pipework. The client also specifically requested the drainage was designed to endure high temperature waste flowing outbound from the factory. The sumps were manufactured in high quality grade 316 stainless steel because of its corrosion resistance properties within challenging environments. The smooth chromium oxide layer on top ensures the stainless steel remains resistant when in contact with food and other substances at all temperatures.
Food and drink environments are considered one of the most challenging to design and the strictest levels of hygiene are required. Therefore, careful attention must be paid to EHEDG standards (European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group) for safe hygienic engineering and design in all aspects of food manufacture. Aspen supports this standard and worked in conjunction with Cleggs to ensure all bespoke sumps were expertly fitted to support the highest of hygiene standards within the industry.
